WHAT DOES SCIENCE SAY ABOUT RADIATION AND EMF?

Whether electromagnetic radiation can have health effects has been the subject of controversial debate for several years. Among other things, this has resulted in safety regulations and limit values for electromagnetic radiation. Some scientists are also calling for even more caution when dealing with radiation sources. We would like to inform you neutrally about the current state of scientific research.

VIVOBASE HOME STUDY

The study conducted by the BION Institute in 2023 aimed to investigate the potential function of the VIVOBASE HOME against the possible influence of electromagnetic radiation. The study was prospective, placebo-free, double-blind and randomized. The VIVOBASE HOME is designed to reduce the possible effects of WLAN radiation and other sources of electromagnetic radiation.

VIVOBASE MOVE STUDY

Conducted by the BION Institute, the study focused on the possible biological effects of cell phone radiation and their compensation by VIVOBASE. A total of 30 subjects were exposed to cell phone radiation while the VIVOBASE was switched on or off. The study was prospective, placebo-free, randomized and double-blind.

HEALTH EFFECTS OF 5G

The EU study from 2021 examines the health risks of 5G. For low frequencies (FR1: 450 MHz-6 GHz), there are indications of cancer risks (e.g. gliomas) and negative effects on male fertility. There is insufficient data for high frequencies (FR2: 24-100 GHz). Non-thermal risks such as DNA damage are also being discussed. The study recommends stricter limits and further research.

INTERPHONE: EFFECTS OF CELL PHONE RADIATION

The INTERPHONE study from 2010 investigated the connection between cell phone use and brain tumors in 13 countries. It found no clear link between normal use and an increased risk of gliomas or meningiomas. However, frequent users were found to have a slightly increased risk of glioma. As a result, the WHO classified mobile phone radiation as “possibly carcinogenic”.

CERENAT: EFFECTS OF MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS

The French CERENAT study (2014) investigated the link between cell phone use and brain tumors. In a case-control study, 253 glioma and 194 meningioma cases were compared with 892 controls. Heavy users (over 896 hours) had up to three times the risk of glioma and twice the risk of meningioma. Occupational heavy users were particularly affected.

SCHEER: EFFECTS OF HIGH FREQUENCY

The SCHEER study (2023) assessed the health effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) in the 100 kHz to 300 GHz range. It found no moderate or strong indications of health risks when the applicable limit values are complied with. Nevertheless, SCHEER recommends a revision of the EU directives to take new dosimetric parameters into account.

HEALTH EFFECTS OF WLAN

In 2018, this study examined the effects of 2.45 GHz radiation (Wi-Fi) on health in a meta-analysis. Over 100 studies showed evidence of negative effects, including impaired fertility, cognitive disorders and behavioral changes. Children and young people are particularly affected. The author calls for stricter limits and recommends avoiding WLAN in sensitive locations.

HEALTH EFFECTS OF WIFI

The study “Health effects of WiFi radiation: a review based on systematic quality evaluation” (2022) examined the health effects of WiFi radiation. Of 1,385 studies, 23 met strict quality criteria. The results showed no consistent evidence of adverse health effects when the limit values were adhered to. The authors nevertheless recommend precautionary measures such as reduced exposure.
