What is 5G Radiation?

5G stands for “5th Generation” mobile network technology, representing the latest global standard for cellular coverage. It provides ultra-fast mobile internet service and serves as the foundation for smart transformation across industries, including construction, agriculture, transportation, and modern daily life.

5G technology utilizes higher frequency bands than previous cellular standards. Because high-frequency signals have a shorter transmission distance, telecom providers must install a significantly higher density of base station antennas—meaning these cell towers are located much closer to residential areas. Furthermore, 5G technology concentrates radiation from multiple sources and directs targeted beams toward single receiving devices, naturally increasing local radiation density.

Over the long term, virtually no one can completely avoid 5G radio waves. As network coverage aims for full, ubiquitous penetration, 5G signals will become omnipresent across both bustling cities and suburban environments.

Does 5G Affect Humans and Animals?

The exact health risks associated with 5G are not yet fully understood, which remains a central concern for the public. However, several studies point to potential hazards. For example, research indicates that radiation emitted during smartphone use can cause body tissues to heat up, giving rise to various health concerns.

Additionally, scientific debate continues regarding whether and how 5G may possess carcinogenic properties. As early as 2011, the World Health Organization (WHO) pre-emptively classified all radiation within the 30 kHz to 300 GHz frequency range as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” (Group 2B)—a spectrum that encompasses not only 5G, but also Wi-Fi, all cellular communications, and TV/radio signals. While definitive evidence proving that 5G increases cancer risks is currently lacking, the existing volume of published research is also insufficient to fully rule out these expert concerns.

In 2021, the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) published a comprehensive study evaluating current knowledge regarding 5G’s carcinogenicity and reproductive risks. Reviewing 1,861 relevant academic papers, the report noted “limited evidence for the carcinogenicity of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation,” while highlighting “sufficient evidence” that 5G frequencies (specifically studying the 450 MHz to 6 GHz band) may impact male fertility.
